A legendary hat. During colonial times, ships laden with gold, then sugar, coffee,
cacao, or hats, set sail from the western coasts of South America headed for the
isthmus of Panama which, with time, became the primary trading center of the
continent. From this history, the name Panama hat was born.
The Panama was worn by Napoleon III, Edward VII, Harry Truman, and Winston
Churchill among other personalities; thus, becoming the prince of straw hats.
